I stayed in Lijiang another day, hoping to see more of the sights. as it turned out i spent most of my time trying to recover photos from my memory stick as it was corrupted and at one point it showed no file at all. I have had very very patient assistance from the tech man here, he is so kind and has also offered to post the stick to me if i want to leave tonight to catch my train. lovely guy.
as a break I went out to change my daypack which has a broken zipper after 2 days use.
then I had a massage (I had had one few days ago), climbing these stairs at the top I stand in front of this man. He is facing me but says nothing. Suddenly realise he is a blind masseur, this is quite common here. Once I speak he realises I am there and gets hold of my arm and ushers me in. I am allocated a younger guy, also blind, I can see many of them in the office.
He is a little broader and taller than I. He is uncompromisingly finding all the sore spots. This is not a gentle massage and he means business. 75Kg leaning on a Thumb or point of an elbow is very effective. I am continuously in pain, sometimes so much that i am happy to fall off the massage table to get away from his pressure on the side of my hip.
There is no gentle warming and soothing massage, he is strainght to the points. I am actually grateful for effleurage (tapping/hitting the body with the edge/cup of the hand or side of the fist).
I guess now I am the guy the others can hear from the other end of the hall.
For the first time I also see a Chinese blind albino ( who turns out to be partially sighted as he takes and examines my payment at the end).
When I leave the pressure points on my body are still throbbing. I did wonder part way through the massage whether parts of my body that he had massaged would be tensing up from the pain as he massaged the reminder.
It is now 20.02, I have a train out of here at 22.08, I may be missing it as I prefer to stay and take my memory stick with me.
