Trekking

travel to Louangnamtha
lots of roadworks and windy roads, at one stop one guy had dogs in cages on back of his motor bike, there were 3-4 in each and could hear them whining half way down the mountain as he rode off. Booked a 2 day trek to visit some tribal villages, Ahkun and Lanna. My group included Michelle and Angus, Kelly and Ally. Meals are prepared on the road using natural utensils including bamboo pot, I also carved my own drinking mug from bamboo, very hard work. Twice we had to walk across logs to get across ditches (some a few meters deep), interesting. Lots of chats on the way, Kelly is due to meet her mum and go to Nepal for trekking together.

I got a chance to wash myself and clothes in the river on arrival at the village, along side the entire village population! After dinner we are involved in the traditional Laolao (45% proof) drinking with the village chief around the log fire and dont fair too badly.

Didnt sleep too well though, the beers plus Laolao and the hard bamboo bed did not help, toilet visits middle of the night awkward out in the dark despite torch, disorientating.

The children enjoyed the polaroid photos taken by Michelle, artist and photographer, very quiet.

Kelly reckons her phone charger was stolen either at the hotel or while being kept safe at the tour office. sounds strange, they have not taken money or anything else!
