Bad form, sir, bad form! My deepest 'apa-logies' for not writing in English. This appology goes out (of course) to both my dear grandparents, and my poor ol' Dad. - I'm hoping that if I write in both English and Danish, he'll maybe pick up some of it! ;o) (just joking, Dad. You're great!)
Today we're leaving Jaipur. Jaipur has been a mixed pleasure. I've had to get used to the Indian way of thinking/living again, but now that that's done, I'm already having the time of my life. IT'S GREAT OVER HERE!!! Today I received presents from my host family. On arrival I gave them all sorts of Danish souvenirs, and today I gave their son a collection of all the Danish coins. I think they have really appreciated me staying here (I definitely hope so!) and it was ever so nice of them to give me a 'farewell-gift'. :o)
Yesterday, I went out with Lance, Nicole, and Laura. Lance & Nick are from Australia, Laura is half Spanish, half French - but says her favorite country is Ireland, where she lived for a couple of years before coming to India! :-)
The place was called 'Kooba Cafe' and it was really great. There wasn't anything Indian about it, but the music, food, and especially Kingfisher beers were absolutely fantasti-cal! ;o) We smoked waterpipes (I had one with Paan Masala-flavour!) and just had a great time, relaxing after a fairly 'heavy' week.
In an hour or so (at 1 p.m. Indian time) we'll begin a horribly long trip. We start of by going from Jaipur and back up to New Delhi (6 hours bus ride). From Delhi we go to Himachal Pradesh (night train, 8-10 hours). On arrival, we'll be stacked back into a bus, and then it'll be exciting to see, whether it'll take 4 or 8 hours from the station and all the way to our camp just outside Palampur city. I know a couple of volunteers who were there last month. It took them 8 hours (rather than the 4 it should take) because of the monsoon and the destruction that follows every year. The roads are literally washed away and a long busride suddenly becomes devastatingly tiresome - 8 hours!!! J**** C***** (and other blasphemous exclamations! :) )
That'll be all for now. I really should start writing my diary soon - I'm experiencing so much these days and I can't remember half of it. I feel happy as I've seldom felt.
Hope your feeling just a good,
Simon-ji
